LEAP: A new Gesture Control System in market!
A 3D Gesture Control System called LEAP by a San Francisco startup called Leap Motion is best available in market (200 times more accurate than anything else) and cheaper too (expected to cost $70)!
Major functions:
- Navigating an operating system or browsing Web pages with the flick of a finger
- Finger-pinching to zoom in on maps
- Letting engineers interact with a 3D model of clay
- Precision drawing in either two- or three-dimensions
- Manipulating complex 3D data visualizations
- Playing games, including those that require very “fast-twitch” control
- Signing digital documents by writing in air
The device monitors a space four cubic feet in size, and can deftly track individual finger tips, the whole hand, or inanimate objects. Check out the video to see exactly how it handles touch-style gestures, like pinch-to-zoom and others. It is simply amazing!
A camera module integrated successfully into Raspberry Pi !
The size of sensor used for testing was 14 megapixels. But the same would NOT be used in the final product as it would be pricy and pi being cost effective would compromise on the sensor. The details for hardware have not been finalized yet but The Pi Foundation claims that it would be very affordable. The module is pretty small, which makes it ideal for some of the robotics and home automation applications people have been wanting to build. Read more about it at the source link below.
